Android is booting :-D ... like you see.
Applications could "installed" successful on the device.
The biggest problem is the screen and the keyboard.
The screen has an resolution of 640x480 and my test program is not build for this resolution, like some other programs I tested.
Furthermore it is actually only possible to enter numbers with the keypad, no characters.
Without characters it was impossible for me to test the browser :-(

Summary
Working:
Touchscreen
Display

Not currently working:
Keyboard
Sound
Camera

This is the actual status.
Most important for me is the keypad, but there is not much time available ...

I am trying to summarize my steps. I hope that it can still be reproduced.

Most of my informations are form : https://omapzoom.org/

Some addition information before beginning:
CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-linux-gnueabi-

This has to be changed to your lokal configuration by giving the absolute path to your toolchain, so it looks like
CROSS_COMPILE=/absolute/path/to/arm-tool-chain/arm-none-linux-gnueabi-

FYI:
I have used the following Tool Chain (Target is ARM GNU/Linux and the system host was Linux in my case).

Bootloader
Like described in this Thread, you need an x-loader and u-boot. I build the latest version from the git repository. There are all steps mentioned here : https://omapzoom.org/gf/project/bootloader/wiki/

Filesytem
Informations about it can be found here.

Testing Kernel
Now I have tested the device by building a Linux kernel, but this step could be skipped.

Android
I followed the instructions mentioned
here. With the following changes.
Before you could build android like described. You must install the sources of ncurses. (Package : ncurses-dev on a debian based system)
Further you must have installed a Java SDK larger than 1.5 and added its bin folder to the PATH variable.
Also set the following environment variable:
Code: Select all
export ANDROID_JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_HOME

More I could not actually remember. If you have a tangible problem feel free to ask.

Postby jikes » Tue Jan 27, 2009 6:45 pm

Hi Ollo,

Do you have any information about How to install .apk on Target using adb. I am trying to install apk file using adb.

but when I am running the command adb devices on Ubuntu host PC : none of the device is getting listed.
I have tried the with Windows SDK also on Windows XP there my device is getting displayed as Gadget0 but it ask for the driver files.

If you or anyone has installed the any of the apk file on Zoom board, please help.

Hi jikes,

until now, I have not used the adb in combination with the OMAP Zoom.

I installed applications just by copying the *.apk file on the SD-Card into the following folder:
Code: Select all
/data/app-private/
(I guess, this was the folder, it is actually impossible for me to test it.)

Please let us know, when you had success with the adb.

Hi,

I am able to install my .apk file on to the zoom board, using ADB. Since I do not have the Window or Linux driver for the USB so I did the installation of the apk file using the eth.
What I did : -
1. open a shell on the Ubuntu Host machine and go to the folder where adb is present for x86
2. run killall adb
3. export ADBHOST=<IP address of the target machine>
4. run adb devices . U can see the list of the device
5. run adb install <path for the apk file on you hast machine >

This will install the application on to the zoom board.

Still I am having some problem, when I am doing uninstall the application. What I tried to do the uninstall is
1. tried with adb uninstall < apk file name >
2. I also tried to remove the files manually from the /data/app folder on to the target.

But still the icon is coming on device and when I am trying to install the same apk its getting failed and I am getting error message " the apk is already present".
Do anyone have any idea how to uninstall the application from the device ?

One more thing I would like to know, i have one sample google map application which is running fine on the emulator, when I installed the same application on to the zoom board I am getting error that "Google Map
application is clsoed unexpectedly".
Here my doubts are :-
How to get the API key to run the Google map application on to the target ?
My zoom hardware is not displaying any Map icon on its menu screen why ?

Or any other input regarding to run the Google map application on zoom target will be highly appreciated.
