How to display data in ListView from MySQL not SQLite?

Postby hightech » Sat Jan 23, 2010 4:47 am

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to retrieve data from MySQL not SQLite to display in ListView? I looked everywhere for it and can't find any tutorials or code about it. I know about notepad but it used only SQLite but I really wanted to know how to do with MySQL than SQLite to display in ListView.

I looked at this plusminus's tutorial about "Doing HTTP Post with Android" and it is really useful but i need to display in Listview not dialog message.

Please let me know how to do that. Thanks!

I am not sure about understanding your question clearly, but according to what I understood your steps should be:
- create a servlet that gets a http request, fetches data from mysql db and returns result as an json array
- in android client :
- prepare a connection manager (use apache libraries) to call the servlet and and get the json array
- define a custom adaptor to handle this json array
- bind the adaptor to the list view
