In a Filter-Search Application, is there a way to remove the Search button which comes along with Search box?

'Filter Search applications provide live filter-as-you-type' - in that case I don't understand the need for a Search button..

Also, the background activity becomes blurred when this Search Box is displayed. Is there a way to show the background clearly?
