i want to display tooltip for a button.

is it really possible in Android?

if yes can anybody please tell me how?

I never done that but you could use the long click to display a dialog than.
Use yourButton.setOnLongClickListener() to do so.

yeah that's fine but what i want is to display a descriptive text when the button gets focus...

You can't really focus Views when you use touchscreen.

Would it be possible to make a double-click type effect? Touch the button, get the tooltip like an on-focus, and another tap to activate the button? You could touch the tooltip to reset it i'd imagine...
It does seem like an idea that has merit.
Also, how would you make a button that creates a popup, like a dialog box with pertinent info, centered on the button or to the side, like a tooltip would?
