Add keys to virtual keyboard

Postby rellik1982 » Thu Jun 04, 2009 12:15 pm

Hello,

Is it possible to add keys (for example "Next" or "OK") to the virtual keyboard.

Example in the SMS app, there is a "Next" button to change from the field of the form which replace the return button.

Thanks

Yes. Take a look at KeyboardView and Keyboard classes in the android.inputmethodservice.* package. It allows the specification of an XML file to create a keyboard with whatever keys you'd like on it.

I've seen that and the sample in the SDK but it seems to be necessary to describe all the keys. And that also means that i've got to describe it in qwerty, in azerty and for languages such as japanese... a bit too much for me ;)

Am i wrong ? Or can i only add / replace one key in the original keyboard
