Please share this with your users. Maybe other will benefit from this.

My Android device is an Android PC.

My windows xp sp3 could not find the device driver for my recently purchased Android 1.6. The Device Manager lists the device as an unknown HiDroid device in the other devices list. The HiDroid device update wizard failed to find the device driver during the driver update. Fixing this problem involved changing the android_winusb.inf.

The content of the file C:\android\usb_driver\android_winusb.inf had to be changed to the include the following sections:

[Google]
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_0002&Rev_0224&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01

[Google.NTx86]
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_0002&Rev_0224&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01

[Google.NTamd64]
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_0002&Rev_0224&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01

These changes were based on information found in the Devices Properties in the Hardware IDs details.

The HiDROID General properties are Device type: Unknown, Manufacturer: Unkown, and Location 0 (HiDROID)

The HiDROID Details are
Device Instance Id: USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01\6&A007D48&0&0001
Hardware IDs: USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_0002&Rev_0224&MI_01, USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_0002&MI_01
