Unable to install an apk file on emulator (Android 1.0 sdk)

Postby Ashutosh Tamrakar » Tue Sep 30, 2008 6:49 am

Hi All,

I am trying to install the downloaded apk files (downloaded via OTA in SD Card) but on installing the downloaded application shows "Install blocked" alert message.
For reference, Attached is the snap-shot of error message.

Any idea/suggestion on how to install the application which are downloaded via OTA.

Thanks in Advance
Ashutosh

Instead on directly downloading on sd card, Download on your m/c and from command prompt use
adb install "download file path"command definitely it will work .

The error dialog is actually pretty clear: You should change your settings so your phone allows apk's from sources other than Android Market!

This would only work if your G1 is in 'debug mode'.

There should be a setting under Development on the device(emulator) that allows for third party software to be installed. Turn that on and it should fix your issue.
