Speech Recognition does not work in emulator

Postby fargoth » Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:33 pm

Hello,
I've just installed the Android SDK and ADT, I'm trying to use the code from the example on speech recognition:
http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/ApiDemos/src/com/example/android/apis/app/VoiceRecognition.html
And I get the message: "Recognizer not present"
Here is the relevant piece of code:
Code: Select all
mList = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list);

        // Check to see if a recognition activity is present
        PackageManager pm = getPackageManager();
        List<ResolveInfo> activities = pm.queryIntentActivities(
                new Intent(RecognizerIntent.ACTION_RECOGNIZE_SPEECH), 0);
        if (activities.size() != 0) {
            speakButton.setOnClickListener(this);
        } else {
            speakButton.setEnabled(false);
            speakButton.setText("Recognizer not present");
        }

Do I need to install something on the emulated android?
How do I get this to work?
