Keystore tampered with, or incorrect password

Postby Skeniver » Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:43 pm

I am having an issue with the keystore I use to sign my apps. This morning I wanted to release a small update and tried to sign the project from Eclipse. It gave me a "Keystore has been tampered with, or incorrect password". I tried from the command line and get the same thing.

I had emailed myself a backup of the keystore, so I tried that but got the same response. I am 100% sure that I am using the right password.

All I can find online is along the lines of "you can't do anything".

Please, somebody say there is SOMETHING I could do... I am really stressing about this!

I did find a the solution... Honestly, it required me to type the password correctly. I was missing out a character. So much for 100%

Hope this is the same issue for you, because I don't believe there is a workaround solution!

Thanks, that gives me some hope -- One less data point for the mysterious corruption hypothesis. (Although my problematic keystore file is one byte smaller than the new ones I generated today.)

To be honest I can't be certain what password I used, although I'm sure I chose something "obvious" :? (All of the "keep this key really safe" stuff in the docs dissuaded me from writing it down.) Unfortunately the script I wrote to try all my usual password permutations hasn't found it.

I wish the error message was more definitive -- It has real red-herring potential :(

Indeed it does. I put 3 or 4 backup copies in various places after that scare

Well good luck! I hope you find it!
