Failed to start adb / My application doesnt show up

Common bugs/problems with the Android SDK the Emulator and the ADT-Plugin.

Failed to start adb / My application doesnt show up

Postby Anil » Wed Jan 09, 2008 12:41 am

I created the exact same application as Hello World - only, I called it HelloAnil.
Unfortunately, when I run the emulator from the Eclipse 3.3.1.1 plugin, it doesnt show
the app: Hello, Anil.
I did an adb kill-server but still was unsuccessful.

I have read the Troubleshooting section. I also used -wipe-data

  10.         </activity>
  11.     </application>
  12. </manifest>

The problem is that adb is not running. The command prompt (Win XP) exits with 3 lines - too quick for me to see.

rebooting machine worked temporarily.

Now the problem is back again.
Running netstat, here are the entries for the adb port 5037:
TCP MOKCWKS060:1355 localhost:5037 CLOSE_WAIT
TCP MOKCWKS060:4544 localhost:5037 SYN_SENT

I wonder if the adb port is being used by some other process - does
anyone know what the problem is?

to check it you try to do:
1) kill adb.exe from processes
2) clear temporary files (c:\Documents and Settings\{user_name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Android\)
3) reboot eclipse

I opened an issue here.

Can you please add your input there also?

adb works

Postby tvks » Wed Aug 19, 2009 7:09 pm

Hi,

Pls go to the \tools directory and then use the adb start-server command.

It is sure to work from there.

:)

I also have this problem and some similar ones, and in my case the Firewall is the guilty one!
Hope this helps.

I got this solution from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5703 ... art-daemon

Doing these steps

Step 1:- Shitf+Alt+Delete and go to task manager, which has adb.exe process and end(kill) that process

Step 2:- Now, Close the eclipse, which is currently running on my computer.

Step 3:- Again, Restart eclipse then solved that problem.
