Emulator minimal hardware requirements

Postby samo- » Sun Aug 30, 2009 10:00 pm

Hello!

I have a five years old computer on which I want to develop Android apps. The problem appears with very laggy Android emulator. My configuration is: AMD Athlon-xp 2400+, 1GB RAM on Linux 2.6.29. Would it help if I buy additional 1 GB of RAM or is the CPU too slow?

Post your opinions on the situation!

Thanks!

Hi.
I think 2Gb of RAM is better then 1Gb :)
I my ubuntu linux I had the same problem with 3 Gb of memory. I switch to Windows, here it works much better.
I don't know what is the problem...

The emulator seems very slow indeed.

I have a Quad core (Intel Q9450) running @ 3.6GHz, and depending on what I do it crawls. Simple apps run just ok.

Edit: Memory will probably not help much... It seems like it's limited by CPU first.
