Eclipse > Window > Preferences > Java > Editor > Content Assist , and turn off what you want.

Otherwise get a new computer :p

I've also noticed major delays while using Eclipse with the ADT plugin. Many more reports have been made on the internet of this issue (do a google search). Getting a new computer is no use since I have an i7 iMac with 12GB of RAM, but I'm still experiencing lag after using Eclipse for a while.

It did get less laggy though when I turned off the features you suggest here.

Some colleagues computers do it they're running linux set ups. And another does it when opening xml files.

It's to do with eclipse just being crap at parsing stuff. I notice the outline view sometimes slows me down when viewing android layout xml files.

p.s. but I always want a new computer :p

If you will compare both the IDE's you will find the Eclipse is much faster as compared to Netebeans, so I would agree that this is not about get migrate the IDE, rather getting a best configured PC can solve the issue.

You've gotta set up your eclipse settings to take advantage ofthat 8gig of ram you have!

Hi,
I have been using Eclipse with ADT a lot. On the whole it works fine but is does hang for periods
of up to a minute. This is when I am entering code and seems to be when it is trying to prompt.
Example
TextView txvw = new TextView(this);
txvw.
At this point, Eclipse is creating a large suggestion list of what I might enter next. This locks
up the whole machine for 30 to 60 seconds before the list appears. I expect I can turn off the
lookup option but it is useful.

I wonder if this can be done, you have to improve the PC performance. Or get the new machine,
