Dev Tools on a real device

Postby Johnny2085 » Wed Jun 10, 2009 10:23 pm

I've got a situation where my application is running just fine in the emulators, but is force closing on a G1. I'd like to use the exception browser to get the stacktrace, but I can't find any documentation as to how I get the Dev Tools application installed on an actual device.

Can anyone point me towards the part of the docs I'm missing when it comes to this? Thanks!

Hi,

To see stacktraces on the real device you can do exactly the same thing as with the emulator: use 'adb logcat' or use the eclipse plugin (click on the DDMS button and then on the HTC icon).

If your PC doesn't recognize the G1 (adb logcat can't find it for instance) it's time for an 'adb kill-server' followed by 'adb start-server'.

Hope this helped

Probably way late, but here:

You can download the DevTools app directly from your phone..
