I was working on this app most of tonight. I was able to launch it from the emulator just fine.

At one point I moved the icon from the apps page to the desktop on the emulator, and I'm not sure if it's related or not, but after that the icon never appeared in the app page again.

I deleted the icon off the emulator desktop, and now when I run my app from eclipse, there is no icon on the app page or desktop. There is however a record of the app in System -> Applications where it allows me to uninstall.

I also packaged the app and installed it on a Droid. Same exact thing, no icon shows up on the apps page, but I can uninstall it on the System->Applications page.

I'm using Eclipse Galileo on Mac OS X with Android 2.0.1

I'm pretty new to this, so any push in the right direction would be much appreciated.

For showing apps along with their icons in android home screen you hav to set some intent filters to your main activity(Which activity you intended to show to the users). And this can be set from menifest file. Like this:

            <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
            <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
         </intent-filter>

I happened to name my main activity "Main" and then must have changed the casing by accident on the manifest from MAIN to Main.

I think the next thing I'll do is study intents.
