adb copying error??

Postby Grendizer » Sun Feb 13, 2011 2:59 pm

Hi all!

I'm having trouble using "adb" to copy mp3 to a "SD" unit which i've created using Eclipse.
I've googled and tried to follow the steps that others have tipped about but i'm still getting errors.

I'm trying to copy mp3 files from a folder on my c: to my sd-memory, and keep getting the following error:
"push: c:\sdcards\dialpad\sounds\mamacita_us/mamacita_zero.mp3 -> /sdcards/dialpad/sounds/mamcita_us/mamacita_zero.mp3 - failed to copy 'c:\sdcards\dialpad\sounds\mamacita_us/mamacita_zero.mp3' to '/sdcards/dialpad/sounds/mamacita_us': No such file or directory"

I'm using the following command
adb push c:\sdcards\dialpad\sounds\mamacita_us /sdcards/dialpad/sounds/mamacita_us

I'd appreciate any help here!

Hi, Grendizer
Are you sure that this directory exists on the emulator?
the output of adb about it and says: No such file or directory
You can use "adb shell 'ls -l /sdcards/any/subdirectory/path'" or in your case:
"adb shell 'ls -l /sdcards/dialpad/sounds/mamacita_us'".

You can also use the ddms command (or built into Eclipse-ADT tool "File Explorer") to explore the file system on an emulator.

I have not created any directory in the created SD-memory.
If I follow your tip, will I create a directory in the SD...?

You can create a subdirectory in the directory /sdcard using the standard UNIX command mkdir:
"adb shell 'mkdir /sdcard/somesubdir'".

In order to verify that the partition /sdcard created in the emulator you can use the command "adb shell 'df'".
You should see something like this:
Code: Select all
Filesystem             Size   Used   Free   Blksize
/dev                    45M    32K    45M   4096
/mnt/asec               45M     0K    45M   4096
/mnt/obb                45M     0K    45M   4096
/system                 82M    82M     0K   4096
/data                   64M    36M    27M   4096
/cache                  64M     1M    62M   4096
/mnt/sdcard             68M    11M    57M   512  <---- sdcard directory (/sdcard is a symlink to /mnt/sdcard)
/mnt/secure/asec        68M    11M    57M   512
....
