WiSyncPlus

Postby GregC » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:40 pm

WiSyncPlus provides ultimate control over synchronization for your Android Phone. Best of all, it allows for drastic power savings by controlling your data connection. By turning off your data connection when it is not needed, WiSyncPlus prevents the phone from constantly synchronizing and reporting statistics back to Google. Even better, it prevents ill behaved applications from chronically obtaining network updates until you say its okay. This is the first tool which truly gives control of your phone back where it belongs - in your hands!

You can read more about WiSyncPlus by clicking here. WiSyncPlus, by GearSoft, saves battery, time, and money in a way no other Android application can.

WiSyncPlus will be released on Friday, May 1st, 2009.

WiSyncPlus 1.2.1 is now available!

Postby GregC » Wed Jun 10, 2009 7:17 pm

WiSyncPlus provides ultimate control over synchronization for your Android Phone. Best of all, it allows for drastic power savings by controlling your data connection. By turning off your data connection when it is not needed, WiSyncPlus prevents the phone from constantly synchronizing and reporting statistics back to Google. Even better, it prevents ill behaved applications from chronically obtaining network updates until you say its okay. This is the first tool which truly gives control of your phone back where it belongs - in your hands!

WiSyncPlus saves far more power than Power Manager is capable of doing(*). At the same time, WiSyncPlus is also fully compatible with Power Manager. They are complimentary applications.

Release 1.2.1 now requires Cupcake as it uses AsyncTask in the new SDK.

This version fixes many bugs.
Force close issues under Cupcake should now be a thing of the past.
Turning off display no longer forces APN/WIFI off when turned on from charging.
Change in orientation no longer creates duplicate empty schedules when creating new schedule.
Various combination of APN/WIFI toggle features were often in conflict. All known conflicts have been resolved.
State is now maintained when Android terminates background service. Loss of state would usually cause WiSyncPlus to do the wrong thing the next time it started. This is now fixed.

WiSyncPlus now supports eight different shortcuts!
    Disable Auto-Sync
    Enable Auto-Sync
    Force Synchronize
    Synchronize Calendar
    Synchronize Contacts
    Synchronize Email
    Toggle APN
    Toggle WIFI

APN Handling is now much improved. It is no longer handled in the GUI's thread. Cupcake's APN handling is far, far slower than previous Android versions which is what introduced the forced closures on Cupcake. Moving this outside of the GUI's thread prevents force closures. Thus the use of AsyncTask. The background thread's priority is now also lowered so as to prevent scheduling competition with the GUI thread.

The price has increased from $1.97 to $2.50. Thanks to all of the early adopters. As new features are added, the price will continue to increase. Target price is $4.97. Buying now will save money later.

WiSyncPlus continues to be rated five out of five stars!

Free versions will be provided in exchange for translations. If you are interested in providing a translation, please let me know. Contact information is available in the market.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

*If you require 24x7, always on connectivity, WiSyncPlus will be unable to provide additional standby battery time.

New Feature!

Postby GregC » Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:49 pm

WiSyncPlus has a new feature. It will now optionally notify you if WIFI is enabled and not connected. The notification will turn off your WIFI if clicked. It is disabled if you connect to an access point or turn off your WIFI. This allows you to save additional battery by limiting the drain imposed by the WIFI device - especially wasted when its not connected.

WIFI Hint: For best WIFI results go to Settings -> Wireless Controls -> WiFi Settings. Hit the "menu" button. Select, "Advanced". Select, "W-Fi sleep policy". Select "Never when plugged in".

More features coming. The price is now $2.75. Buy it while its cheap!

WiSyncPlus 1.3.2 Now Available

Postby GregC » Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:30 pm

A new release of WiSyncPlus is now available. In the About page you can now easily find the FAQ. The main GUI now has "Lock" buttons. In the event you are using your phone after the scheduler has turned on your WIFI/APN, you can now use the lock buttons to prevent the scheduler from turning it back off. This allows uninterrupted Internet access in the event the scheduler has already turned things on for you without worry of it turning it back off while you're using it. Minor tweaks and improvements.

Also, the website (which the FAQ button takes you to) has a very detailed and informative FAQ available. So either navigate to the FAQ on the website or press the FAQ button, located on the About page, to navigate directly to the FAQ page.

Price is $2.85USD.

Version 1.4.3 Release!

Postby GregC » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:23 pm

WiSyncPlus, a five star application, is the one must have application which
drastically increases standby battery life, allows you to control all Internet access (WIFI & Cellular), provides push button control for all Google services synchronization, and can even schedule network access and synchronization to suite your needs. Best of all, WiSyncPlus even helps you control or avoid costly network access charges and expensive roaming fees. So go on, take control of your phone back! Make your phone work and sleep when you do!

Release 1.4.3 of WiSyncPlus drastically changes APN handling. APNs can now be enabled/disabled 10x faster, or more, depending on the number of APNs you have on your phone. This drastic performance boost is unique to WiSyncPlus as far as I know. This has the side effect of no longer tying up the android telephony process for extended periods of time, while it monitors APN changes; which potentially prevented you from being able to answer your phone in a timely manner when your APNs were enabled during a "display on" event.

Lots of new features are available in this release. The short list follows. To see the complete changes log, go to the website.
The scheduled event list now visually indicates if an event is enabled or disabled. You no longer have to edit/view an event to determine its enabled/disabled state.

Preferences are now broken into 10-sub screens making preference navigation much easier and faster.

New notifications - notifications must be enabled to benefit.

A new When Display Turns On preference called "Lock Escalation".

Two new global preferences have also been added. Both default to enabled.
See the website for full details on what has changed.

Price increased to $3.50. Buy it while its cheap! Price will continue to increase as more features are added. Lots more features planned!

WiSyncPlus 1.4.6 Released!

Postby GregC » Tue Aug 25, 2009 7:55 pm

WiSyncPlus's unique combination of features is designed to provide incredible synchronization control while drastically extending the life of your phone's battery. WiSyncPlus does so without getting in your way.

A new release of WiSyncPlus is now available.

Release 1.4.6 of WiSyncPlus provides both new features and bug fixes.

Bug fixes include:
Android has a bug which forces the WIFI back on should state be checked immediately after requesting the WIFI device be turned off. This caused some odd behavior for WiSyncPlus in certain corner cases when a specific combination of preferences were enabled. This version works around the bug by changing implementation to specifically avoid monitoring the sequence of states which triggered the errant behavior.

In the event of rapid signal degradation, a bug prevented the 3G Monitor from notifying you of potential ways to save battery. This is now fixed. Its now possible for the 3G Monitor to notify you of all possible ways, based on signal, to potentially save battery life.

The new features include:
You can now initiate a Forced Synchronization via the When Charging Begins trigger.

A new notification screen has been added. Additionally, you can now select various options including insistence, LED color, use of vibration, and even the ring-tone used for notifications.

New sensitivity preferences have been added to further support the 2G(GPRS)/3G monitors. This allows you to tweak the sensitivity based on your operating environment. Now control the trade off in notifications vs power savings. Additionally, the notification reset threshold is now derived from the user's values. This in turn means fewer or more notifications based on your preferred preferences.

All shortcuts now issue a toast to provide visual feedback something is being processed. No more guessing if you actually selected the shortcut.

Tons of verbiage, specifically preference descriptions, have been revised. The revised text better explains features and feature priority. Much confusion is removed. Usability is drastically increased for the casual WiSyncPlus user.

The WIFI Monitor has been completely overhauled. The old method required a specific flow in state changes to work reliably. It turns out this is absolutely not reliable because of variations in hardware, drivers, environment, and software installed. The new change is very reliable. Furthermore, the WIFI Monitor will never sound when charging; via USB or A/C power. This means many users can now leave their home, plug into their vehicle, and drive away with the WIFI enabled, and never hear the WIFI Monitor go off.
