United States Constitution (in your pocket!)

Postby xMemphisx » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:48 pm

I got bored the other day and thought I'd sit down and do something with Android. I'm not sure why this came to mind. But it's the entire US Constitution.

It's basically a splash screen, followed by a listview (Articles, Signatories, Amendments), which is followed up by information of each of the afore mentioned. It's also pretty decent example code for someone trying to learn to use android.

If anyone has any comments, or suggestions for the app please let me know. I don't know how much more I could change it up, but let me know!

It's because it was an unsigned apk. Try compiling it yourself. I'm not sure how to make signed files. Anyone know?

@plusminus:

Thanks, I'll look into it!

The original APK file was signed and reuploaded. Try again and it should be working perfectly.

Thanks plusminus your tutorial worked great :D

Fine :)

Note: I just found that Google wants you to sign your apps with a validity of at least 25 years, if you want to submit them to the market. That is > 11000 days (whereas my tutorial just showed 10000 days)

Thanks a lot for posting this! I'm new to programming/Android and I've been trying to find some sample code for an application which displays information in such a fashion. I have a few questions though:

If you display static text from strings, is there any way to add a search feature to such an application? I need to search for information contained within the main sections (so within your amendments or articles, for example).

Also, could someone point me in the right direction as to how to implement the fast scroll feature?

Thanks,
Scott
