Hmm... Why was it limited to 2.2? I don't see why this couldn't have been made with a min SDK version of 1.5.

Hmm interesting, do you really need this method or can you not just set the orientation in your XML, as horizontal or vertical? Therefore supporting 1.5 >

If you set the orientation to portrait, the camera prewiew appears deformed. If you set to landscape, the preview is ok, but then you won't see nothing when the soft keyboard appears.

Not sure what your XML file looks like, but can't you just put the camera preview in it's own linearlayout with horizontal and the XML as a whole in vertical? :-D Show me the XML

But all It's about orientation (portrait-landscape) , not about horizontal-vertical. If you declare in the manifest.xml that the Activity will be landscape, the soft keyboard will appear landscape. You can create custom views and rotate them before onDraw(), and then they will be drawed like portrait orientation, but you can't do anything with soft keyboard.

I have a small audience :D I'm trying to promote the app. Over time more people will have froyo, now only nexus and custom roms (thank you cyanogen) , but high-end phones will have it soon.

Regards. (and sorry for my english ;) )
