[App] Push Ups for Android

Postby jci » Sun Feb 06, 2011 3:23 pm

Excited to announce that we just launched our second Android app, Push Ups: http://www.rittr.com/pushups

Getting you to doing 50, 75, 100 or 125 push ups in a row -- that is what the Push Ups app is all about.

Think of the Push Ups app as your personal trainer that is going to help you build up the strength to complete those 50, 75, 100 or 125 continuous push ups within a short few days or weeks, depending on your level of fitness. Just like a real personal trainer, the Push Ups app adjusts the exercise regimen based on your feedback how taxing you think the individual exercises are. That way, you can continue towards your fitness goal at your very own pace.

So, by when will you complete your first one hundred pushups or more in a row?

Pretty cool idea! I've seen the 100 pushup program before but I like this presentation better :) Have you considered using the accelerometers in the phone to let the user keep the phone in their pocket and have it count off the pushups for them? Maybe even track the tempo and use that to fast track the healthier first time users?

Hi Nick,

we had thought of using the proximity sensor in a future version instead so that you can look at the screen and as you get closer to it, the countdown decrements while you always have it in sight.

The accelerometer would be useful if you, say, strapped the phone to your arm -- much like an iPod shuffle or iPod nano. If we find out how it works, we will try to incorporate both so that you have a choice.
