So, I started with the notion of creating a decent game for Andriod using OpenGL. At that time I had no OpenGl experence, no Android experience, had never coded collision detection, and had never touched Java before. Not the best foundation. What I did have was some 3D graphics knowledge, a little self taught Direct3D experience, game mod experience (quake), tons of software knowledge, a few good ideas, and a determination to "do it right". I don't want to create a crappy app.
Anyway, I just got the graphics engine stuff done and the collision stuff in and have created my first "physics playground" test of my engine, and OMG, it is really frickin' good. I mean, it is amazingly good. Shockingly good. I can't imagine that I could have done this. I have stunned myself.
The working title of the game is "Lava Ball". It is part Labyrinth, part marble madness, part firey molten lava death. The game will feature my innovative WCP (Wicked Cool Perspective) technology and amazing 360 by 360 accelerometer controls and true all axes collision physics.
You ain't rolled a ball until you've rolled with Lava Ball.
Currently, I am working on the level editor, and adding a collision BSP so that the engine will smoothly support expansive levels. After that it is just the menu system and some cleanup.
I will eventually need some beta testers because I am currently only testing on a Droid.
