I am a freelance developer and I just finished this application.
As soon as the SDK is released in November I started to code and so : Molib just born ! see here : http://www.molib.fr
It is specially for people riding the french velib bicycles in Paris !

What is Molib
Well, it is very simple: the idea is to make life simpler for vélib users (yes I know it's Paris, but I hope soon to enlarge the family to other cities in France !)
Molib gives you real-time availability of vélib stations closest to the user on his cell phone, helps to find an address, displays the full itinerary and other things, distance in meters, …
The main idea is to save time and money to the user, helping to find bikes to the park or on
the terminals. One thing is very difficult otherwise, and yes vélib is a victim of its own success!

How does it work
With the geopositionning (GPS), Molib display on Google Map the three vélib stations closest to the user. It is so much simpler than trying oneself. There are also seeking to address API Yahoo, availability of vélib stations through API vélib. No more searching and around in circles, Molib found for the user!

With the Gmap API, the directions can be displayed on demand, traffic (soon in Paris, France !) and the satellite maps are also available. The weather forecast for today is visible to the request with another API Google. In summary, or anything see : http: www.molib.fr.

(for the beta, GPS is set at Notre-Dames, Paris, France. And GPS update location every 50 meters is desactived)

France continues to amaze me....its like a garden of eden over there..I think your idea is great if i were living in France....wow, i never knew that kind of thing existed (i live in Canada).
