MSNdroid - Alpha testers needed

Postby Plastriq » Mon Feb 09, 2009 10:17 pm

Hey all,

I'd like to show you the app I'm working on at the moment, called MSNdroid.
As you can guess this is an MSN application for the Android :)
The app is still in alpha phase, it's very basic and probably has alot of bugs.
The only real functionality at the moment is:

- Sending and receiving IMs
- Setting your status
- Setting your nickname

I'd appreciate it if you want to test it out, see if you like the way it's going.
Ofcourse, (constructive) feedback and comments are greatly appreciated :)

It's not available on the Market yet, because I want to see if there is any interest in this application before paying the $25 fee (don't have that much money to spend as a student ;) ), so the .apk is attached below.

Oh and no, it of course does not send any of your private information or usage statistics to me :)

PS. If you are going to test it, please also test it over 3G. For some reason I can't explain the app just doesn't work well over 3G (won't login properly), while over WiFi it normally works fine. This might just be my carrier (T-Mobile NL) though.

I do not want to offend you, but i'm wondering, why making a msn client as Google's IM already has one? It might be for studying purposes, which is a very good reason, I'm just wondering.

What do you mean? Google's IM only does Google Talk for me.

Edit: after googling, it seems only US G1s come with MSN support in IM.

Ah no need to be sorry, I was just surprised that I would have possibly missed that :P but apparently only US users get MSN, which is a bit odd if you ask me.
Wouldn't have made this if it were already built in of course :)
