"Masquerade Deluxe" adventure game...

Postby Jompe71 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 5:47 pm

:D This could be one of my "sicked" and most crazy project setups ever.
Hopefully progress will go as smooth as it is right now. Doin' it all by myself, coding and gfx.
Need to take some courses on the latter though...

What is it?

Öhhh... a game! ( Just kidding, it's a Zork game with a UI )

Did You draw it using Canvas??

Only the overlay if thats what you mean? The background image is just drawn in Illustrator and saved as a png.
There will be more overlays later on and of course the UI text input interactivity.

Looks interesting, but I also don't know whtat is it

If you don't recognize the screenshots (They wheren't this colorful back in the days) you probably don't know what game I'm remaking. ...so this will be kind of a secret until release.

Okay well, just be careful if your remaking a game and putting it on the market.

Most games that age are still under copyright :)

Thx for the advice, and I'll be careful. The "only" thing I'll investigate is if I can ad-fund the game, to (so to speak) be able to get some feedback for developong a game for people to use for free.
Now actually just writing the idea down sounds like risky business... :?

If your just copying the idea of the game, and not just cloning it or stealing graphics / sounds, you should be fine.

I would imagine that even as a full on rip off of a game would be fine, its unlikely the copyright holders will be bothered by it - the worst they'd ask you to do is take it off the marketplace, but the chances of that are slim.

Ok, bringing life to an old thread... sorry! :?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPJCwjQDdFk

I'm soon looking for beta testers of this game, so PLEASE sign up at: jompe71[at]gmail.com!
Progress is: Artwork 95%, Coding 80-90%. Game is at this stage playable but lack in some speciffics according to the original game, thus engine is almost done.

Testers will have to:
a) Respond to beta testing form, provided by me. All questions (except yes/no options) must be answered thourowly when possible.
b) Have the urge to test stuff "normal lazy" testers won't (regarding adventure gaming).
- i.e: Test commands 2...N times in a row, try different command options/sequences/combinations etc. which may lead to unexpected results.
c) Have a keyboard featured device. Beta version ONLY for keyboard devices (as of current state).
b) Provide input on how to release a version for non keyboard devices, UI setup etc.

Hopefully this remake will bring back old school memories to dudes who where s.c. active back in the days,
so that dedicated testers are the the ones who will respond.
Others will get no benifit of having the game before release since the final stable release will be 100% free.
Old school for everyone so to speak! 8)

Sorry for the poor english...
