Foxy Photo Editor: beta testers wanted

Postby chimaera » Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:15 pm

Hi all,

Foxy Photo Editor is my first app to be released to the market.

As the name suggests, it's a photo editor that (I hope) is quite complete.

More info can be found here: http://foxyeditor.deckeleven.com

Before full release, I would like to do some beta testing. So any help from fellow developers would be appreciated.

Currently, the version is running fine on my G2 and on the emulator (1.5_r2). However I've had several reports of users who had trouble on the G1. So any feedback would be welcomed.

Please give it a try ans speak your mind.

Hum...

I've seen some of your videos and it looks like a very nice and polished application !
But I've not seen the apk anywhere, so we can't give it a try...

You're right. I forgot to mention, that the beta is available for free download on the market.

Only the save functions are disabled.

Hum...

I though about it, but couldn't find it.

As I don't imagine my carrier tries to prevent us to download it, I would say the program is for Cupcake only ?
My french carrier still hasn't make Cupcake avalaible, so I'm stuck with the 1.1 sdk.

So I will have to wait for Cupcake to test it :)

You're right. It's a cupcake version.

I first began development on the 1.1sdk (mainly for the sake of Orange customers :) ) , but it appears that the essential Bitmap.setPixel function is severely broken in this version...

Glad to hear you though, even for a small time, about us !

For the setpixel thing, can't you just get the all pixel array with a 'getpixels' from the bitmap, do the process on int array, and recreate a bitmap with 'setpixels' ?
That's what I'm doing for a photo processing try ( but your videos made me reconsider the interest to go on with it...:) )
Perhaps it is doable for a whole bitmap processing, but not for a local treatment ?

Actually that's the method I first used. But it has two drawbacks:
- first it's very very slow (especially for whole bitmap)
- second it's memory consuming (the main headaches provider for photo editors...)

Plus, on the 1.1sdk, the setPixel function resets the alpha channel to 0xFF whatever the value provided, so it can't be used for transparent bitmaps on pre-cupcake.

Sigh...

Now that orange has (at least) released for the G1 in France, they gave us a version where protected apps are not visible in the market !!

So I still can't try it !!!!
