Flash card application: Tea.ch Cards Light

Postby oxonom » Mon Sep 22, 2008 5:56 pm

Hi

I have created a flash card program for Android it's called Tea.ch Cards Light. It's a vocabulary learning software, it picks flash cards which are new to you and shows it to you, it also decides when to schedule the cards for the next encounter according your answers. It tries to find out how long you can keep remembering that card. Similar to the Supermemo applications but using a search algorithm instead of a formula. Maybe that's not an algorithm everyone might trust in the beginning, so I added the leithner algorithm with deck time spacing as well.

It is using WebView to display help contents from the assets folder. You can browse the applications help pages at http://tea.ch/cards/help

It is an alpha version at the moment but it should be stable enough to use it. I have put up a start page for online contents at http://tea.ch/cards there you can downlaod the APK file and two sample decks. There will be a free and a paid version for Android Market.

:D it took me a minute to recognize the wordplay in the ti.tle :D
So this is a vocabulary-learning application, right?

What will be the differences between the free and the paid version :?:

Yes you can use it to learn vocabulary, but not limited to.

Both versions will be the same except two limits on the light version. Limit to three decks of 500 cards. It should be enough for casual users. If you bumb the decks limit, you may save them to the SD card.

If you want to try it, the light version is downoladable at http://tea.ch/cards/FlashcardsLight.apk

After installation use the menu to use 'Internet' there you'll see the page at http://tea.ch/cards/ where you can download two sample *.tcd files to load into android.

Here are some instructions to learning cards: http://tea.ch/cards/help/learn-cards-screen.html

Great Vocabulary Trainer!

I've always been wishing to have that simple easy to use functionality :)
there is a lot time to learn or repeat words on-the-go..

a few random thoughts:
    - capture your own cards and share them with others
    - record audio (eg from native speakers) and listen how to pronounce
    - lookup words in the moment you need them and 'add to my collection'
    - ...

new version 0.9.1a of Tea.ch Cards

Postby oxonom » Tue Sep 30, 2008 11:28 am

I have uploaded a new version 0.9.1a with some detail improvements.

An overview is available at http://oxonom.com/cards

@flowdi: sharing can be done through storing to and loading from SD cards. Or via internet from the menu option 'Internet'.
Recoding is not implemented in version 1.0. Lookup words from Leo.org and other sources is on my wish list. Also not implemented yet is taking pictures and using them as cards.

For version 1.0 is only the basic minimum (what I think it should be in a flashcard program) planned.

Easy learning:
