Lots of confusion in PORTING android os to real board

Hi to all

I am very new to android and also new to linux environment, though you feel this is simple question pls reply me

I followed the below links for downloading source and building ANDROID OS.

after this i got the 3 img files in out/target/product/generic
ramdisk.img,
system.img
userdata.img

my confusion is how to get kernel.img i mean zImage.img file...
to build this we have to follow some other steps or every thing will be build in one go.

Please explain me in detail ANDROID porting procedure and updating patches......
