just read this article. It is described to use htc polaris kaiser or vougue mobile devices to port android to and delete the running windows mobile.

Has anyone of you tested this? And can describe if it's really possible to get an android phone running - right this time.

just read a little bit more in some forums. There's a lot of not going things. And you can't phone normally with this system. So waiting for the right android phone is the better solution - I think ;o)

There has been some real progress with it still. The touchscreen works, the buttons are somewhat mapped now, but we are still waiting on the kernel to interface with the radio to make and recieve calls. (as of now we can recieve notification that there is a call, but cannot do much more than that at the moment.)

the latest zImage handles voice call really well.

it runs perfectly on my Kaiser. Voice comes through speakers as well.
touch screen when voice calling is not working, have to use button to end the call.

BTW, The "back" button is not working though. so u have to do reset to get out of menu...

Imo the touchscreen is meant not to be working during calls, as you could accidentially end the call, with your ear

Anyway, nice to see Android running

Android works great on the Vogue if you use the stuff written by this guy: http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/
It's pretty much fully functional.. data, phone calls, sms, you can put your own apps on, etc.. his port is really polished and impressive IMHO
