Why not use a WebView It can also handle straight, hardcoded html-input.

thanks for your answer, but i don't really want to use html, so a webview is not a solution for me.
I'd like to have an icon (small image) in the upper left corner of my screen and a large portion of text to start at the right side of the icon and continue below the icon.

I'm thinking its not possible with the current options (textview, imageview etc).
