voice command as a service

Postby saps1727 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:07 am

Not new to java, but to the android language. I am currently coding an application that needs a voice command always listening for a command. For example, my application is running (not even in focus, and screen can be off), and i say "hello application." My app recognizes the command and promps me for further activity. I have a feeling this can work but I do not know how to implement the voice command. Service? Broadcast receiver? Any help much appreciated.

i think you need to use Recognizer Intent . This could help you : http://developer.android.com/reference/ ... ntent.html

and

hope it'll help :)

thnx for the reply...i do have recognizer intents within my program, but my question is whether or not i can have a recognizer intent always listening for a command, even when the phone is locked or the program is in the background..almost like voice recognition on your computer where it's in "sleep mode" until you say "start listening," and it will start listening for commands.
