Using / Porting normal Java App to android

Postby VIDEN » Fri Oct 09, 2009 9:40 am

Hey,

I hope I'm not asking something thats been delt over and over again, but I couldn't find anything on the topic.

I was wondering if it is possible to take a "normal" java app e.g. a WebServer, convert it to the dex format and run it on the Dalvik VM (from the shell).

Reason for this is, that we are looking for a new VM for our Hardware and the Dalvik VM might be a good solution.
It would be really good for us if it was possible to just convert out Java-Webserver to dex and run it, without making it into a full Android-App.

Hope you might have some answers for me.

Greetings

David
