Starting position for EditText cursor

Is there a way to set the cursor of an EditText to start at the top left? Currently the EditText cursor seems to start in the middle of the widget.

what exactly do you mean...
Your problem occurs, when EditText is empty or not :?:

set gravity to top (either in xml android:gravity for that component or in code)
