Remote commands to android phone

Postby Fake » Fri Oct 31, 2008 1:15 am

Has anyone looked into sending remote commands and receiving data to/from a phone that's connected directly to a PC via USB?

I've been thinking about how awesome it'd be to have a PC application that (minimally) can send sms messages that you've typed on the PC through your phone.

Can anyone direct me toward some info that'll point me in the right direction to communicate to the phone from the PC via usb?

I don't know about the USB,
but why don't you use the Wireless interface ?? (wifi)
it's more usefull, and a lot of phone won't have USB, but wifi ...

That's a good idea. I have a G1 phone that's why I was thinking USB. Only downside with that is, you'd have to have a wireless network to make that work. I wanted this application for use at work, so that I could receive and send SMS w/my computer through my phone, and we don't have a wireless network here.

I think maybe I'll try starting with the WIFI approach though, and add USB later if I can figure it out.

Won't work, as you don't have access to bluetooth on the device.

So I'm limited to wifi? Does anyone know if it's even possible to send and receive events/data thru the usb connection?

Is a network available through the usb connector? If so you could use that ip address of the phone, otherwise, it's wifi or the net. I suppose this is one of Googles intentions, to make the whole phone cable free...
