Neighboring cells cid/lac

Postby nr1 » Mon Jan 04, 2010 7:25 pm

Hi,

i'm developing with SDK 1.6 and want to get the cid/lac of the neighboring gsm cells. Cid is no problem as there is the .getCid() method but unfortunately the .getLac() method is not available in SDK 1.6.

Now i found out that the .toString() method returns all this information, but it has to parsed.

An example output is (lac / cid in hex):
[426bd2a4 at 21] which means LAC = 426b | CID = d2a4| RSSI = 21

Unfortunately the lac/cid in hex format is not always 4 digits long which means that output can also be:
[83beeba]

=> now it's unclear which value is lac/cid.
=> Does anybody know a solution?

Hello nr1, have you got a solution about this issue? I'm facing the same problem

Doing some research I found a guy suggesting to do an AND to the cid to convert to decimal:
whatever.getCid() & 0xffff = decimal format of Cid

But we still have the same problem, but now in decimal format

Please post a reply if you found something, it would be very useful

Thanks!

Don't know if this helps

Sends your MCC, MNC, LAC & CID, each 8-bytes, to Google via HTTP POST request о Response is a binary packet where the latitude and longitude are found at offsets - bytes 7,8,9 & 10 and11,12,13 & 14 respectively.

Concatenate these values into 32-bit doubles & divide by 1,000,000.

Not sure what you meant, you mean that getCid() is returning each property on 8 bits?

I read that the first 16 bits was the Cell Id and the last 16 bits where the LAC
