How to keep service alive?

Postby pranav09 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 3:47 pm

Hi all,

I have a one service which collects the latitude and longitude using GPS via service which runs in background. It's working fine. I am using Advanced Task Killer in my phone T-mobile myTouch3G 1.6. Service stores the latitude and longitude in DB and displayed it on map. So, i have also GUI to display it. When i kill the application, it also kill the service which runs in background.

As i know, the service can not stop until the user call to stop it or self stop. It's extends to service. Is it true that the service is one of the part of the application, that's why it stops when i kill the application from the Advanced Task Killer?

Anybody have any idea regarding it? If you have please share it.

Thanks.
