how to implement search within the app? [urgent]

Postby achie1266 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 7:36 pm

I need to provide a search bar within my application and am wondering how to do it.

i saw the SearchManager docs but need a lil help putting the things together.

What I am trying to do is to provide an edit text and search button and when the user typesin the edit text and clicks on the button it should show the search results from my database.

It will also help me even if i can get the Quick Search box to just search my database and provide a way to the user to display those results.

Please help me with this. its kinda urgent.

Thank you.

could this help you : http://code.google.com/p/helpdiabetes/s ... lpdiabetes ?

here a few screenshots of the app : http://www.johandegraeve.net/android/#screenshots

There's no explicit search button, it starts searching as soon as a new character is added in the EditText

Thank you Johan for the reply and the reference.

It is useful but I am not looking for filterng the list using onTextChanged feature but need to implement a search for the whole application. Its not for a single list. And I also want to provide a voice search option like in the quick search box. So this is not what I wanted.

plz let me know if you have any knowledge on that one.

thanks again.
