Is there any way to request the telephone number of the phone on which my app is installed? Meaning the owner's telephone number? I need to get the number as a unique identifier.

If I remember correctly you can not.
You can get the IMSI and IMEI of the phone though, these are sim/phone unique identifiers.

Take a look at the android.telephony.TelephonyProperties interface.
It is part of the android.telephony package.

"Contains a list of string constants used to get or set telephone properties in the system. You can use os.SystemProperties to get and set these values."

Thanks, this forum is 100000x better than the official Android Developers group on Google. You have no idea how hard it is to get anything answered on that forum.

I have another question, do these unique codes work for CDMA (Verizon) networks or only on GSM SIM based networks? I believe the technology is different.

The IMEI should always be working, because it is Device-dependant.

I don't know what about IMSI, perhaps Google will wrap another CDMA-unique number to it.
