Hello World!

Postby stag1969 » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:45 am

Hi! :(

There are three weeks I try to create my first project "Hello, World!" It is impossible to me overcome errors of

compilation of the IDE. I have OS XP SP 3 Eclipse indigo classic. There are simple means - build -> rebuild, project

-clean, automatic compilation--- do not help. The avtogenerated folder the gen is empty. I simply do not find file

R.java anywhere.... I so understand, that it is necessary to compile manually files …. I tried …. It is impossible … …

here are screenshots …

Excuse for my bad English...

Hi stag,

This could be very hard to diagnose over the internet.

You should put Build on auto.

It looks like this is the only project, is that correct? Did you create it using File/New or enter it in some other way? Did it compile properly when it was first created? I see there are two errors at the bottom. Can you show us what it says about them down there? Does it mention anything in the console about errors?

Did you try deleting this project and creating a new one and it still doesn't work? If you create a project using the File/New/Project/Android Project then click the Next button. Give the new project a different name and click next. Choose a version like Android 2.1 and click Next. Give it a package name like com.myname.appname all in lower case letters. Click finish. The project created by this procedure should compile without any errors. If it does not, an error in the installation of Eclipse or the Android plugin would seem to be indicated.

My first thoughts are that something is not installed properly. The question is what? You can try the above to confirm that or you will have a project that compiles.

Hi Phyll!

I reinstalled Eclipce and ADT five times. Now I have Eclipse indigo SE and ADT 16 and Eclipse Galileo classic ADT

15

Now one after another....

1. I put build on auto.

I create it using a) File->New->Project…

Project Name: MyFirstAndroidProject

Build Target: Google Inc. 2.1 (Api Level 7)

Application Name: MyFirstAndroidProject

Package Name: com.my.first.project

Create Activity: MyFirstAndroidProjectActivity

Min SDK Version: 7

B) It is also used the project wizard.

2. The console has only one error... in property info I see….. /derived false/ editable true/ last modified 9

марта 2012 г. 21:52:52/ linked false/ location D:\ANDROID_ALL\Galileo2\Helloworld/ name Helloworld/

path /Helloworld.

Then…… in explore I see…… in HelloActivity.java R-cannot be resolved…..

The folder gen is empty.

I have thought... my be a problem with JDK SE????

Might be because Eclipse is not 100% up to date? Or it could just be you may need to do a "Project Clean" sometimes clears up errors.

Did you follow the Android Developer step by step guide?
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html

When ever I had R.java gone it sometimes disappears but comes back. I mean it has done it where all I do is edit the main.xml file and BOOM gone I even asked for help on it. All I could do was restart and it did it again but I added more code and fixed the errors I had from the new code and it worked out well.

Might want to just try and code a small simple project to see if it comes back?
