Getting recently visited urls from browser

Postby arvchak » Tue Jan 13, 2009 6:27 am

Hi,

I am using a code to get all visited urls from the browser.
the code goes here

c = browser.getAllVisitedUrls(getBaseContext().getContentResolver());

DBHelper db = new DBHelper(this);

int i=0,j=1;

Log.i("testing","inside the run");
if(c.moveToFirst())
{
String cols = new String();

do
{
// Get the field values
//Log.i("date","before assigning");
// date = c.getLong(c.getColumnIndex("date"));
// Log.i("date",new String().valueOf(date));

cols = c.getString(c.getColumnIndex("url"));

db.createRow(cols);

// Log.i("URL",cols);

} while(c.moveToNext());

}

but my problem is to

1. get only the history and not the bookmarks

2. I am using daemon to actually ping the browser everytime,so i each time i ping i should only get the recently visited and not all the urls visited

kindly help me on this
Thank You

What exactly i want to achieve through this is that, i want to find out what the user is currently searching or browsing in the internet is that possible.Apart from getting the browsing history because user might clear that any moment.

the code which i have mentioned exactly does that but it takes the information from the browser history of the user in the android phone, we can also get the search keywords he has used in the google search widget.but i wanted to know whether there are any other ways.

More ...

I could not find any other way than reading simply the brower cache, its bit ugly since we need to poll for the data each time at regular interval, which is cpu intensive and also between polling internal user may clean the cache.

One more query, I am quite new to Andriod development , while reading browser cache I am getting exception, from logs I can see it says permission denial, do we need some special privelleges to read browser cache, your help in this regard is appreciated.

Best Regards
