gdata API problem

Postby Zoulou013 » Tue Nov 04, 2008 1:51 pm

Hi all,

I'm from Belgium, so, sorry for my english :)

I try to access to Picasa Web Service with the Google Data API.

so, I use :

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using java Syntax Highlighting
  1.
  2. PicasawebService myService = new PicasawebService("exampleCo2-exampleApp-1");
  3.
  4. myService.setUserCredentials("user@gmail.com", "password");
  5.
  6.
Parsed in 0.031 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

I put a permission in Manifest file :

Syntax: [ Download ] [ Hide ]
Using xml Syntax Highlighting
  1.         <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" />
  2.
  3.
Parsed in 0.000 seconds, using GeSHi 1.0.8.4

I also include differents jar files in project :
mail.jar , activation.jar, gdata-client-1.0.jar, gdata-client-meta-1.0.jar, gdata-core-1.0.jar, gdata-media-1.0.jar, gdata-photos-1.0.jar.

The application compile successfully.

But during running, there is an Exception :
com.google.gdata.util.AuthenticationException: Error connecting with login URI

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks

Julien

I've been looking around a bit.. and i Came across this..

http://markmail.org/message/2do7hlyw6ka4dat2#query:android%20HttpsUrlConnection+page:2+mid:slnqe4wtk6k77e3r+state:results

Seems the certificates do not get validated.

Some one modified the jars and posted them here.

http://www.shanaghy.com/gdatamod/

I'll try these out and let you know if it works or not..

GData APIs aren't supported in Android...officially.

Postby Dan.Bourque » Wed May 06, 2009 8:46 am

Hi all,

According to "vbarathan", one of the GData Java Client Library (gdata-java-client) project owners:

"This client library is not intended for mobile platforms primarily for the memory footprint related to parsing large xml responses. Android SDK has un-documented support for part of GData API, and there may be other opensource efforts in the near future to come with a mobile compatible library. At this point, since android is not a target platform for this SDK, this issue is ignored within the context of this library."

Here's a link to the related issue:

If its realy a certificate issue you could try the code i posted
in this thread http://www.anddev.org/httpsurlconnection-t5777.html
maybe implementing this code in the api works to overcome at least the certificate issues

hi Zoulou013,
I am also trying to use Google base data APIs in my android application. i m getting the error on the 1st line itself..
GoogleBaseService service = new GoogleBaseService("test");
i m getting java.lang.verifyError. and some description as unable to link to the class etc.

I wanted to knw whether it is compatible with android? I have also tried on j2se platform, it works fine for that.
