File 'library' in App

Postby actaeon » Mon Mar 14, 2011 12:00 pm

Hi, I'm new to this - had an idea for an app and thought I'd try developing it.

I've got myself a couple of books and installed eclipse, but I'm really struggling to find info to help me with what I want to do. The books and internet info seem to assume a level of familiarity with the concepts that I don't have yet!

Basically, the step I'm on at the moment is this:
The app will store an number of text files loaded by the user. These need to be displayed as a list of titles, for the user to either select one of the existing files or choose an option to load another file.

My problem:
Is there a specific recommended location/folder the app should be looking for these files in? I'd like to observe conventions where possible.
How do I display the names of such files as exist already?
Is there an easily addable bit of code to browse for files to add to the 'library'?

Thanks for your help

Hi Actaeon,

Android provides several options for you to save persistent application data. The solution you choose depends on your specific needs, such as whether the data should be private to your application or accessible to other applications (and the user) and how much space your data requires.
