Dealing with assets that are larger than 1.5M?

Postby dsukhram » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:05 pm

It has come to my attention that Android can only deal with asset files that are around 1M or so. My problem is that i'm creating an app that requires access to 5 csv files. The largest of the files is 130M. I want to be able to package these text files with my app.

Is there anyway around this? My app needs to be able to run without Internet access so storing these files on a server is not an option. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is it a joke ???
The avalaible memory on a phone is about 90 Mo, after OS installation.
You can't seriously imagine creating a application that large, nobody will be able to install it !!

Are you targeting Android notebooks ?

As for your answer, I think it is the resources that are limited to 1 Mo, I don't think there is a limit for assets ( they are two separates things with Android ).
