big poi list problem

Postby z4nshin » Sun Mar 08, 2009 12:50 pm

I have converted some poi databases to flat files sorted on latitude. I want to use these as a reference to the current location. The problem is if I read this into an array or if you need the last entry of the file it takes over a minute to get some poi coordinates. I did try as an experiment to serialize the object, but that doesn't work.
I rather don't want to use a server as an intermediate because I don't have one.
Anyone who has some ideas to how to organize/store these poi coords so they can be easily searched?
