Barcode Scanner Database

Postby lilkobes08 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 8:24 pm

I am developing an application that is going to use the Zxing barcode scanner. From my understanding, this will only return the numbers of the barcode. My question is, where are these applications getting the data from once they have the barcode? I am not sure if they have created large, on-phone databases, or if they are looking up the info through a website. Could somebody just let me know what the best way to doing product lookup once you have the barcode?
