Application thats just a website... sort of hard to explain!

Postby jgclifton » Fri May 22, 2009 12:58 pm

I wan't to make an application a little like fbook - have a website which I want to make a mobile version of but I want it to be wrapped as an app that people can download rather than them having to go to the URL if that makes sense?

I've searched on a method for doing this but found nothing - if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

If I was to try this, I would set your webpage files as a resource in your app., then just do an intent to open a web browser with that resource.

something like:

Code: Select all
Uri uri = Uri.parse("file://" + Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "test.html") );
     startActivity( new Intent( Intent.ACTION_VIEW, uri ) );

But instead of the the file:// part, put your resource instead.

So would this would work as just a page in a browser, without the user knowing this? i.e. it's all tied in to one app.

What you need is an app that is one activity with a webview.

Hope this helps
