Postby lal » Sun Sep 28, 2008 10:59 pm

Hello,

I tried the HelloAndroid today and couldn't figure out, why it didn't show my message. It hangs on "Waiting for HOME" and thats it.
I set the SDK-path and downloaded the latest versions (plugin and android-sdk)

I hope u can help me. Thank u.

Does it start without launching your HelloAndroid app?
(only the emulator)

The command "emulator -wipe-data"
already helped me to start the engine :-)
... but as u said before unfortunately my app is not running.
I set a breakpoint in my method, but it appears not to be called.

After this, I ran Dalvik Debug Monitor which gave me the following log:

red warnings:

I'm sorry, but right now, your best chance would be:

Install Eclipse 3.4 J2EE edition freshly in a new directory.
Uncompress Android SDK 1.0r1 in a new directory.
Install the Eclipse ADT Plugin (without httpS)
    Update Eclipse Android Preferences
Compress all of these directories into a Zip file to keep it in a clean state in case you have to reinstall in the future, or to have an installation for each separated project (this last one is the "paranoic backup edition" :D )

And then try the tutorial again.

OH :x

didn't know that android setup was so critical. Now I'll do as u say...
... yet i believe i did everything as u explained. (perhaps "Install the Eclipse ADT Plugin (without httpS) was wrong)

Thanks for your help!

Well, it should work with the "S", but it didn't for me.
And for the install order, once I installed and something was wrong with Android or Eclipse, I couldn't tell, so I deleted and redownloaded.

 Oh, and when downloading Eclipse please double check that the version is 3.4.1 SR1 RC2 minimum.
