There's no denying that the Canon XA10 is quite possibly the smallest professional camcorder to ever come through our doors. The XA10 captures your images on a 1/3-inch CMOS Image Sensor, uses the AVCHD codec and records up to 24Mbps with a 4:2:0 color space. Options in frame rates (60i, 30p Progressive, and native 24p) give you flexibility whether you're shooting for the web or want to give your video a more.

Many users take the videos via this camcorder to editors to do some postproduction. However, it is difficult for some common editing tools to support 1080p AVCHD videos. Actually, Sony Vegas mentions that it is working with MTS clips from camcorders on its official site, but some users still encounter troubles while imputing MTS files to this editor.

"I bought Canon XA10 recently. The format shows AVCHD Video (.MTS). I want to edit the videos I captured in Sony Vegas. However, the fact is that Sony Vegas can not recognize and support this kind of format. What should I do?"

Do you have the same problem mentioned above? Have you found the efficient way to solve the problem? You may have other method to make the Canon XA10 MTS compatible with Sony Vegas. However, the simplest workaround we find to make Vegas work with Canon XA10 MTS files is to convert these files to Vegas compatible formats like WMV/MPG first.

To perform the task, aPubsoft MTS/M2TS Converter which is preset specially output format for Sony Vegas is highly recommended here.

Step 1: Load Canon XA10 original AVCHD videos

Set up the Converter on PC and run it. Click “Add” button on the main interface to load your MTS recordings.

If necessary, you can select all files and click "Merge" to combine several videos to one file.

Step 2: Select output format

Click the format bar or the pull down menu of “Format” to select output format.

For Sony Vegas, then Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MPEG-2 (*.mpg) is the compatible video format for the users to choose.

Step 3: Start Conversion

Tap the Conversion button on the main interface to start transcoding Canon XA10 to Sony Vegas.

Adjust the video and audio parameters as the below screenshot, including the Bitrate of Video&Audio, Video Size, Sample Rate, Frame Rate, Audio Channels, etc., by clicking the Settings button on the main interface for getting the best quality before starting conversion .

Once the conversion finished, tap the “Open” button on the main interface to get the converted videos. Now, you can import the videos to Sony Vegas for editing easily.
