Introducing ClearDB

Postby ccoleman » Mon Dec 20, 2010 11:59 am

Hey Folks,
Ok, to break the ice a little, this is indeed my first post here. Please be gentle :)

I'd like to introduce you all to ClearDB (http://www.cleardb.com), a database in the cloud that makes working with data easier than ever. I'm sure that a lot of you have built apps that need to store data in an external database of some sort. We help you with that effort by providing you with a solution that is not only easy to use, but is also very cost effective.

Our solution is FREE for starters - this give you up to 400K API calls per month, and up to 100MB worth of storage space. From there, our paid solutions start at $10/month, and provide many more features and access/space. We even have a native java client, perfect for android developers such as yourselves - see http://www.cleardb.com/v1/doc/clients/java/ for a getting started guide on integrating ClearDB into your apps.

Hope to see you all soon at ClearDB!

Nice, I've never got around to writing an app that has cloud updateable data, (due to the fact I don't have a server nor can be bothered to set one up :p ) So may check this out soon.

Just wanted to let you all know that we now support SSL, have updated clients to support connecting via SSL as well as stored procedures, with our new procedure language - CGL. It's very easy to use, and feels like a mixture between java and javascript. Be sure to have a look!

You can get more information about what's new here: https://www.cleardb.com/whatis.html

Enjoy!

Hi, I'm using clearDB right now, but I'm having a problem with the Java API client, I can't connect to the database I've set up, even after following the steps provided on the website. Can someone please help me on this?

I am a total beginner android developer, I'm doing this for my project which requires using a cloud database, but I'm not too familiar with using cloud database for my android.

Thanks!
