Android next in Germany?

Postby michels » Tue Oct 21, 2008 11:11 pm

Maybe some good news for all germans.

In the official roadmap, the german translation seems to be prior:
Strings localized into various languages.
* Q4 2008: German
* Q1 2009: French, Italian, es_es, zh_TW, Ja, NL, CZ

So eventually the G1 is released in germany in the early Q1 2009 if the translation is finished in 2008?!
And not all across europe at the same time as exspected so far.

Of course this is just a rumor. But it let me sleep a bit better now :wink:

Isn't T-mobile originally from Germany? And the first EU country will prob be UK, which (of course) doesn't need (a lot of) translating. So Germany which is our biggest country (i believe) would be a logical second.

For the record. I switched my auto-complete language to dutch and now some of the menu items in the real image are in dutch, looks pretty damn stupid :).

T-Mobile is originated in Germany thats true. And it is great that the german translation of Android should be finished till the end of 2008. But besides that I'm always looking for possibilities to get the G1 to Germany right now. Some G1s are on eBay right now but I think that I will wait untill the G1 is available in the UK.

So, if any of you guys has the possibility to get an android-phone to germany before the official release, please let me know. I need one for a presentation at university in the middle of january, so I would be really thankful for any hints to get one.

greetings

Same here, I'm doing my graduation project on Android, and it'd be awesome to present my app on a real device instead of the emulator.
