ADC.I Deadline countdown should be fixed

Postby Steel » Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:18 am

The deadline is exactly April 14, 2008, 23:59:59 MST (MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME = UTC - 7h)

Which translates to April 15, 2008, 7:59:59 CET if I haven't completely lost my marbles?

Hello steel,

 my bad, thanks for the hint!

The JavaScript is timezone-sensitive now, let me know whether it is also correct with you now.

I'm located at GMT+1 (Germany) So, the challenge ends 7:59 in the morning with my local time.
Summing up my current local time 15:31 + the counter-hours: 16:28 :arrow: :arrow: 31:59 (...% 24h == 7:59)

Let me know if it is also correct with you now :)

Regards,

I still think it's 1 day short ... because the deadline in the CET timezone is on the 15th. of April (at 7:59:59)

Bantha pudu!

I thought I saw something strange: In the blog entry Android University Dan Morrill writes

Remember to submit by midnight on April 14th, PST (GMT-8).

But in the Android Developer Challenge FAQ it says:

Applications must be submitted by 23:59:59 (GMT/UTC -7), the day of the deadline (1 second before the date changes in Mountain View, CA, USA).

So which is it?

23:59:59, April 14th, MST (UTC-7)

or

23:59:59, April 14th, PST (UTC-8)

????????? GRRR

Imo that one hour wont change much (ok I'm also still doing many changes, which I should not be doing ^^)

Better submit it on hour too early than one too late ;)

Hehe, plusminus, a lot of things can be fixed in an hour ... and a lot of bugs can be introduced too

Mountain View

Postby cybohemia » Sat Apr 12, 2008 4:29 am

Mountain View, CA - where Google is headquartered - is on Pacific Standard Time (PST) and not Mountain Standard Time (MST).

It's kind of confusing cuz the town is named Mountain View but the mountains they view are pretty small compared to the ones in the MST zone (Rockie Moutains) :).

Sooo...there is one extra hour - whew!
