Started out 12 year ago writing web sites for friends and now I'm a web applications developer working for a Tier 1 ISP in the UK, mainly working with PHP integrating with XML web services.
Self educated.
Recently got myself a Motorola DEXT running Motorola's android based MotoBlur operating system and decided it would be cool to learn how to write applications for it, so here I am at the bottom of the learning curve for Java and Android.

- Degree in Computer Science from the University of Durham.
- Started out as a mainframe assembler programmer.
- Moved into the eCommerce arena, mainly using Java and XML.
- Also programmed in C, C++ and VB.
- Currently work as a web application developer, mainly using PHP, JavaScript and MySQL.

My name is Andrew and I made a booboo because I posted a hello thread in the main forum, I was so excited I completely missed the "Introduce yourself here" sticky Sorry mods.

I am a complete noob to developing anything for the Android platform but I just recently rooted my HTC Hero and installed a custom ROM. From that point on I have kind of been bitten by the Android robot and I want to dive into more. I am going to look though every tutorial I can get my hands on

I am currently working part time for Geek Squad but I just interviewed for a networking job with a local company, hopefully I will move up in the world.

I am also currently working on my BA in Information Systems Security, only another 3 years left

I'm Steve, by no means a professional software engineer (still a simple student at this point, walk before you run and all that...) but I am eager to focus on the Android platform over the next couple of months/years.

It's clear that Android is becoming a major force in the mobile, slate and desktop computing worlds, I want to create some of the ideas I have been holding on to for several years. I've been writing desktop apps in Java for around two years and am expecting the transition to Android will be different, but comfortable.
